The existence of a strong and sound substrate is essential, especially when the floor is expected to receive large loads.

Usually lightweight reinforced concrete is manufactured, after a sealing layer has been applied in case of moisture penetration.

The sealant layer should be separated from the substrate by geotextile due to the different coefficients of expansion of the materials.

In the placement of outdoor tiles it is necessary to predict during the study the drainage of the storms by forming appropriate slopes on the substrate (1.5-2%)


Consideration should be given to the geometry of the space for the choice of the way and positioning pattern.

The tiles are glued with special glue, ensuring that no air is trapped.


Grooving is a key factor in the proper operation of the plates and consists of creating gaps between the tiles using metal guides or the most common plastic parts.

The voids are filled with special grout consisting of cement, resins and aggregates. High epoxy construction uses epoxy grout.

If the substrate is thick and / or the surface is sufficiently extensive, special expansion joints should be provided starting from the final tile coating and ending at the bottom of the substrate.
